Ursula Doran, MSW, RSW

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and  master degree in social work with a specialty in mental health. I have been working as a clinical therapist within the mental health ambulatory hospital system for nearly 20 years. I specialize in anxiety and mood disorders (including OCD) and Bi Polar disorder. I have supported clients with psychosis and schizophrenia. I provide individual support for adults and teens, along with support for couples and families. I offer supervision services for new clinicians and those looking to improve their skills. I have specialized training in OCD treatment, Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) , Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT). I am trauma informed and work with a somatic and Internal family systems lens. I have supported clients through many life issues including grief, self esteem, eating disorders, chronic pain and stress management. My approach is integrative and eclectic, grounded in cognitive-behavioural, humanistic, and systemic frameworks. I select and blend techniques based on what the research supports and what resonates with each client's unique presentation and goals.

My Approach

I believe that everyone is doing their best and they can benefit from learning new skills to make their lives better and live according to their goals and values.

I believe that the complexity of people's lives requires requires an individualized treatment approach which highlights one's strengths and can empower you to take effective action.

I believe that listening is not the same as being heard and I strive to offer a safe, empathetic, supportive, non judgemental environment where we can work collaboratively toward your defined goals.

"You don't have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you."
